Quick verdict & version scope
A model family is not a subscription plan. Features depend on the exact version, app, API endpoint and country you can access.
| Versions covered | Seedance 2.5 This guide uses ByteDance’s 2.5 launch description. Availability must be confirmed in the platform you choose. [1] | Veo 3.1 Compare Standard, Fast and Lite separately where relevant; they have different prices and feature coverage. [3][4] | VIDEO 3.0 and 3.0 Omni Kuaishou names distinct variants. An Omni capability should not be assumed for every VIDEO 3.0 endpoint. [6] |
| Consider first for… | Reference-led storytelling Editorial fit: explore the announced multimodal references, longer generations and editing controls. [1] | Google-connected video work Editorial fit: explore Flow or Gemini for creation, or the documented Veo API for an app. [2] | Storyboard and character workflows Editorial fit: explore the 3.0 guides when multi-shot direction and reusable elements matter. [5][6] |
| Main buying uncertainty | Your actual access route The launch article announced app rollout and said API access was coming soon. That announcement alone does not establish today’s API availability. [1] | Plan vs API entitlement App access and developer billing are separate buying decisions; check the version offered in each. [2][4] | Variant and current tariff Check the account’s model selector and generation quote. We have not verified a current universal subscription price. |
Creative controls, audio & duration
The rows describe documented capabilities, not measured consistency, realism or prompt adherence.
| Generation inputs | Multimodal references ByteDance describes image, video and audio references for 2.5. [1] | Text and image direction The API documents prompt, image and supported reference inputs, with restrictions by mode. [3] | Text and image generation VIDEO 3.0 lists text-to-video, image-to-video and start/end-frame workflows. [5] |
| Native audio | Joint audio-video generation The 2.5 launch describes generating audio and visuals together. [1] | Audio in Veo 3.1 Google documents generated audio; evaluate dialogue, timing and noise on your brief. [2][3] | Audio in the 3.0 family Kuaishou’s launch describes native audio-visual output; check the selected mode. [6] |
| Single-generation duration | Up to 30 seconds advertised This is ByteDance’s 2.5 claim, with multi-round extension described separately. [1] | 4, 6 or 8 seconds in the API Some modes and higher resolutions require 8 seconds. Extension is a separate workflow. [3] | Up to 15 seconds documented The VIDEO 3.0 guide describes selectable duration and multi-shot output. [5] |
| Character and scene direction | References and targeted edits The 2.5 launch describes timestamp-level editing and stronger reference control. [1] | Reference images and frame control Use the supported mode for first/last frames or references; inspect constraints before sending a job. [3] | Elements and storyboard control The 3.0 series supports reference-driven characters and multi-shot narratives according to Kuaishou. [6] |
| Quality and speed winner | Not established A launch demonstration is not an independent comparison using your prompt. | Not established Fast is a variant name; it does not prove a cross-provider speed winner. | Not established Measure failure rate and usable output, alongside generation time. |
Access, prices & cost per usable clip
| How to access | Confirm platform availability The launch names Jimeng AI and Doubao Pro rollout; verify regional eligibility and the version offered. [1] | Gemini, Flow or developer API Google’s model page links these access routes; allowances and availability differ. [2] | Kling studio and API routes The official model guide provides studio and API navigation; confirm your account entitlement. [5] |
| Verified reference price | Current price not established No like-for-like 2.5 tariff was verified from the reviewed official source. Keep the generation quote in your test log. | Standard: US$0.40 per second Veo 3.1 with audio at 720p/1080p on the Gemini API. 4K costs US$0.60 per second; app plans differ. [4] | Current price not established Check the exact model, resolution, audio setting and account quote before comparing costs. |
| Lower-cost variant | Compare the available endpoint An older Seedance version with a lower price is a different comparison; label it explicitly. | Fast and Lite have separate rates The pricing table lists Fast at US$0.10/s for 720p and Lite at US$0.05/s for 720p. Other resolutions have other rates. [4] | Compare equivalent settings A silent or shorter clip may cost less but does not meet an audio-enabled brief. |
| Useful budget unit | Total spend ÷ accepted clips Include discarded generations and paid extensions, plus any editing time. | Total spend ÷ accepted clips For illustration, one billed 8-second Standard 1080p generation is US$3.20 before tax. Retries increase the cost. [4] | Total spend ÷ accepted clips Record credit consumption and cash cost for the exact tier and settings you use. |
| Before commercial use | Check the access service’s terms Confirm permissions for reference media, output use and any recognisable people; model capabilities alone do not grant rights. | Check the product and API terms A technical API allowance does not establish rights to every input or generated subject. | Check the selected service’s terms Confirm output use, watermark rules and input permissions before using clips in a campaign. |
Make the choice practical
A fair product-ad test you can repeat
Suggested evaluation, not completed results: use the same authorised product photograph and request an 8-second, 16:9 clip with a slow camera move, one visible hand interaction and a specific spoken line. Match resolution and audio settings where supported; mark unsupported settings rather than silently changing the brief. Generate three attempts per model within an agreed budget. Check product shape, hand motion, speech timing and adherence to the brief. Record the exact model version, access platform, elapsed time, charges and accepted clips. Do not compare a 30-second generation with an 8-second generation as if their cost or latency were equivalent.
Frequently asked questions
Which produces the most realistic videos?
This guide does not establish a realism winner. Vendor examples are selected demonstrations. Use matched prompts, settings and multiple attempts; inspect movement, faces, hands and scene continuity before choosing.
Are Seedance, Veo and Kling complete video editors?
They are model families accessed through products and APIs. Some access products add editing, storyboarding and asset management. Compare the model’s output separately from the application’s editing workflow and subscription.
Is the longest clip the best value?
Only if it meets your brief. A longer unusable clip has little value. Compare total generation spending and manual editing time per accepted result, with versions and output settings recorded.
